Welcome to my site!
My name is Caitlin McDonald and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Qualified Supervisor in Orlando. I have been working with children, adolescents, adults, and families for the past 11 years. I graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2013 with my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling, and attended the University of Florida for my undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Business. Go Gators!
I have a passion for working with children and adolescents and believe that they have an amazing ability for change and growth with the support of family and friends. In my professional practice, I work with families experiencing conflict, including communication difficulties, managing challenging behaviors, and fostering healthy relationships among family members. I also work with individual issues, including stress, anxiety, depression, anger management, low self-esteem, trauma, and grief with all ages.
I utilize play therapy techniques when working with children and adolescents, which allows them to grow and connect in a unique way. I completed the AutPlay training to help the neurodivergent population and their unique challenges. I also utilize EMDR to help treat various levels of trauma with individuals and adults.
I have seen first-hand how childhood and adolescence can be extremely challenging, and I have learned how to support kids through this difficult time. This is a major period in a child’s life where they are learning so many things about themselves, others, and their world; but most importantly, their role in the world. I know how amazing it is to watch children and teenagers transform into mature and hopeful young adults, and this is where my passion for working with them comes from.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and have one dog that keeps me busy! I love traveling to new places and just relaxing at the beach. I also find great joy in reading and learning new things and am constantly searching for new challenges in my life. Additionally, I am passionate about health and fitness, and spend a lot of time participating in physical activities and sports. All of these interests allow me to connect with others and be the most effective counselor I can be for my clients.
