EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a treatment that helps to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic symptoms. This treatment modality facilitates the accessing and processing of traumatic memories or disturbances, and other adverse life experiences to bring these to an adaptive resolution.

EMDR has shown that the mind can heal from trauma more quickly than previously thought. EMDR uses detailed protocols and procedures to allow therapists to help their clients activate a natural health process. EMDR has been shown to be helpful for PTSD, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, grief, low self-esteem, and anger.

EMDR involves the use of bilateral stimulation, including eye movements, tapping, or sounds. This allows the brain to reprocess memories and develop a healthy and positive emotional and cognitive response to them.

I am trained in EMDR, and can offer this to adults, teenagers, and children who could benefit from trauma treatment in the Orlando area or via telehealth in the state of Florida. I am also trained in protocols to help address recent traumatic events and work with groups of individuals who are dealing with trauma together.

Recent trauma can include the death of a family member, health-related issues, car accidents, crime, intense stressors, etc. Families who experience a trauma together can also all receive treatment for that trauma, while processing through their own unique experiences.

EMDR treatment can effectively be provided in person or via telehealth. For more information, visit: https://www.emdr.com/ and https://www.emdria.org/
