Emotional support animals (ESAs) are recognized under state and federal law as a “reasonable accommodation” to someone with a disability, such as depression, anxiety, or PTSD.
I can provide an individual with a letter for an emotional support animal, but this does not officially certify the animal in any way. ESA’s are usually requested for housing and airline accommodations, although laws are constantly evolving in this area.
I work with individuals to develop coping skills and determine the need of an emotional support animal. I also help them to understand the rights and responsibilities of having an ESA.
ESAs are not trained or evaluated.
An ESA letter is only valid for one year.
The owner is solely responsible for the animals care and behaviors.
